Content
This is where the product was developed and where the entire business process takes place.
Our thin stone veneers are produced in India and Africa.
Of course, we take great care to ensure that good working conditions prevail at our production sites and that safety regulations are observed.
The health of our employees is particularly important to us: all employees in our factories must wear appropriate protective clothing - depending on the work process, these include mouth protection, ear protection, safety glasses, gloves and safety shoes.
The processing of natural stone normally results in a high level of fine dust pollution. However, Slate-Lite's innovative manufacturing method can drastically reduce this: Since the solid slate blocks are not chiselled or split during the production of Slate-Lite, but are removed layer by layer, there is no exposure of our employees to fine dust during this work step.
The process steps of sawing and grinding the slate blocks are carried out in our factories in conjunction with water and any dust that occurs is thus bound directly. The risk of health hazards due to silicosis, also known as stone dust lung, is therefore excluded in the Slate-Lite production process!
We have developed a revolutionary process in which many paper-thin layers of stone can be extracted from solid blocks of stone.
The stone layers are not split off as with conventional stone slabs, but are removed with a resin.
Each of these slabs is unique and is produced by hand in over 12 processing steps.
The look and feel of the solid stone slab are retained.
Our standard sizes for Slate-Lite are:
122 x 61 cm / 24 x 48 in (approx. 0,74 m²),
240 x 120 cm / 47.24 x 94.48 in (approx. 2,88 m²),
280 x 120 cm / 47.24 x 110.23 in (approx. 3,36 m²).
Special formats or individual cuts to desired dimensions are possible directly in the online shop.
Our thin stone veneers usually have the following thicknesses:
Slate-Lite: approx. 1.5 - 2.5 mm
UltraThin eco+: approx. 0.5 - 0.9 mm
Translucent: approx. 1.5 - 2.5 mm
Please note that due to the natural stone surface, slight variations in thickness are sometimes possible.
Slate-Lite:
This thin real stone decor with 100% natural stone surface is extremely robust thanks to its fibreglass backing and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
Slate-Lite is extremely light and has a total thickness of only approx. 1.5 mm.
Use the stone veneers both indoors and outdoors for wall cladding, flooring or as a tile backsplash in your kitchen. Even unusual living environments made of stone in wet areas such as bathrooms or showers are possible with Slate-Lite!
UltraThin eco+ is our 3D mouldable stone veneer:
The 3D flexibility is achieved by using a cotton mat as a substrate. Nevertheless, UltraThin eco+ also has a 100% natural stone surface!
Thanks to CO2-saving transport due to its light weight and low consumption of natural stone resources, UltraThin eco+ is particularly environmentally friendly.
The natural mat on the back of UltraThin eco+ allows for easy processing and opens up many new possibilities in interior design and furniture construction. With UltraThin eco+ you can even master complex special shapes and difficult edge areas without any problems!
The processing of UltraThin eco+ is also a unique feature: Despite the natural stone surface, you can even cut UltraThin eco+ to size with scissors or a cutter knife!
Translucent is our translucent stone veneer:
Like all stone veneers from Slate-Lite, our Translucent product range has a 100% natural stone surface with a low weight and an overall thickness of just approx. 1.5 mm.
The special feature of Translucent: the transparent backing material on the back of the stone leaf.
This translucent backside creates unique light effects with a light source behind the stone leaf, so that extraordinary backlit objects can be created!
Depending on the type of light, different effects are achieved: you can use cold, warm or even coloured light to create your individual stone light object.
Let the world shine in a new light and discover how easy it is to bring incredible eye-catchers into your home with backlit stone!
Our prices depend on the respective stone type and size of the decor.
You can find all prices conveniently and clearly directly at your desired decor in our online shop.

Slate-Lite is harmless to health!
Slate-Lite meets the highest quality requirements, also in terms of health.
The best example: our recent VOC emission test was passed with flying colours (result class A+).
High VOC values are a health hazard: odour nuisance, irritation and symptoms in humans that cannot be directly attributed to an illness are possible consequences for personal health.
We tested the coloured slate decor Falling Leaves as an example - due to the extremely low emissions measured, the test institute was even able to stop the test chamber test prematurely.
The coloured slate decors from Slate-Lite impress with a rather smoother surface with different and constantly changing patterns and structures.
The limestone decors from Slate-Lite impress with a rather smoother surface with relatively homogeneous patterns and structures.
Please note that the limestone decors are not suitable for use in outdoor and wet areas!
The mica slate decors from Slate-Lite have a somewhat rougher surface with mainly homogeneous patterns and structures. A special eye-catching effect is the slight sheen of the material, which is created by the natural quartzite content in the stone.
The marble decors from Slate-Lite impress with their slatted surface with different and constantly changing patterns and structures. Strong grains and elevations in the surface are a typical feature of slate-lite marble.
Note: The marble decors can sometimes be a few millimetres thicker than other decors.
The sandstone decors from Slate-Lite stand out due to their slightly rough, rather grainy surface with slight differences in height.
The Art Decors from Slate-Lite combine the advantages of our real stone veneers, such as weight, processing and flexibility, with extraordinary surfaces in a metal look.
The Art Decors with concrete look combine the easy and convenient processing of all Slate-Lite products with a modern and clean look of a concrete surface.
The combination of fibreglass and coloured resin looks like commercial concrete with fine-pored structures in the smooth surface.
Stoneboards: Even more stable and faster to install:
With our new Stoneboards, you can now lay Slate-Lite even faster and easier:
Thanks to the thicker overall thickness of approx. 3-4 mm, you can not only lay our large formats of 240 x 120 cm (94,48 x 47,24 in) with a single person, even spot gluing is possible!
Due to their size and properties, the
Stoneboards
are ideal for all applications in the kitchen or bathroom.
Artdecors Lite include both concrete-look decors and metal-look decors in colourful colourways.
The concrete decors are a combination of fibreglass with coloured resin on the front, while the metal decors are extremely thin stone veneers that have been coated with metal paints as a final finish.
With both finishes, you benefit not only from the low overall weight, but also from the easy processing and flexibility of the material.
Our Art decors are suitable for a wide range of interior applications such as modern wall design and unusual furniture construction.
Weathering results in hardly any or minimal uniform
uniform deviations in the colouring.
Test method:
Resistance to UV radiation (UV-B)
according to DIN EN ISO 11507
Test cycle: 4 hours; irradiation 50°C / 4 hours; thawing 40°C
Test duration: 1,000 hours with evaluation after 250h, 500h, 750h
Evaluation: colour change according to DIN EN ISO 11664-4, Sp62 Fa. X-Rite
Measuring geometry: d/8°, illuminant: D65
The emission rates on the transport routes are many times lower with Slate-Lite than with conventional stone slabs, which leads to a significantly more positive eco-balance.
The majority of our goods are shipped to our central warehouse by sea. With pollutant emissions of approx. 15.1 grams of CO2 per kilometre (source: NABU), this results in the following example calculation of one of our containers:
(comparative calculation: sea route India/Germany. granite slab vs. Slate-lite)
Transport route | Amount of material (m²) | Load (kg)
Slate-Lite | sea container 40' | 10.637 m² | 26.500 kg |
Granite slab (2 cm) | sea container 40' | 441 m² | 26.500 kg |
CO2-emissions (g) | CO2-emissions / m²
Slate-Lite | 7.500 km | 3.001.125,00 | 282,12 g |
Granite slab (2 cm) | 7.500 km | 3.001.125,00 | 6.806,27 g |
One sheet of Slate-Lite therefore produces approx. 95% less CO2 than a conventional thick stone slab during transport!
Furthermore, the manufacturing process we have developed also conserves natural resources in the quarries: From the stone material of a single conventional stone slab of 2 cm, we obtain 200 - 400 slabs of Slate-Lite, depending on the decor!
Of course, we are also relying more and more on recyclable solutions for our packaging, so that we have already been able to reduce the amount of plastic waste many times over in recent years. And of course we will continue to work on this path in the future!
You can use Slate-Lite in wet areas such as shower & bath without any problems.
Please note that a protective sealant is recommended to ensure durability and easy cleaning.
Furthermore, as with any other wall covering, the substrate of the surface to be processed must be sealed in accordance with valid DIN standards.
All decors of the Slate-Lite and Translucent product lines are suitable for shower & bath, except for the three limestone decors in our portfolio.
UltraThin eco+ and Artdecors Lite are unfortunately not to be used in wet areas.
You can use Slate-Lite outdoors without any problems.
In most cases, additional protective impregnation or sealing is not necessary outdoors.
Depending on the place of application, you can apply an impregnation if necessary, e.g. our Slate-Lite Special Impregnator or Slate-Lite Special Protection.
Our sales department will be happy to advise you further.
The substrate of the surface to be processed must also be waterproofed in accordance with the applicable DIN standards, as with any other wall covering.
Slate-Lite and Translucent are both frost and weather resistant.
When used as a house façade, rear ventilation may be necessary - other surfaces can be bonded directly.
You can also use Slate-Lite in the kitchen without any problems.
When used as a backsplash, we advise sealing the stone veneers to protect the surface from heavy soiling and make it easier to clean. For this, we recommend our Slate-Lite Extreme Protection.
Please apply 2 coats of this in the kitchen to ensure optimum protection.
Use as a worktop is possible under certain conditions. If you use Slate-Lite as a worktop, you should seal the material in any case. Please contact our sales department for detailed case advice.
If necessary, you can also bond Slate-Lite directly over existing tiles.
In this case, please just make sure that the substrate is clean and that the bonding is full-surface.
You can also use most Slate-Lite decors as flooring on stairs.
For a complete list of all usable decors, please contact our sales department at sales@slate-lite.com.
We recommend sealing our stone veneers when used as flooring - our range includes Slate-Lite Extreme Protection.
When used on stair treads, we also recommend the use of profile strips (also available in our range) to protect the butt edges and prevent them from breaking off.
Our UltraThin eco+ range is not suitable for use on stairs.
You can also use Slate-Lite in the pool area or directly in the pool, both in salt water pools and in chemical pools with chlorinated water.
The limestones are excluded from use in wet areas!
A complete list of all decors that can be used in the pool area can be obtained from our sales department at sales@slate-lite.com if required.
Please note that we do not recommend any protective sealing or impregnation for standing water, as this could lead to colour changes.
As with all materials in the pool area, the waterproofing must also be guaranteed in accordance with DIN standards for the substrate.
In stagnant water (as with conventional tiles), it is possible that white lines and residues may appear at the water's edge. These can usually be easily removed with a high-pressure cleaner.
You can also use Slate-Lite for furniture construction.
Generally, we recommend our UltraThin eco+ product line for this due to its low overall thickness, but you can also use any other product line.
You can also use Slate-Lite in the fireplace area.
Slate-Lite is heat resistant up to a temperature of 120°C, our standard adhesive up to 90°C.
Our standard material has fire class Cfls1 (floors).
A special, fire-protected material with fire class Cs3d0 is also available to order.
Yes, Slate-Lite is waterproof and heat resistant up to 120°C. Our adhesives up to 90°C.
It is possible to use Slate Lite as a worktop, but we only recommend it under certain conditions due to the rough surface of the stone and the extreme loads that cutting tools, hot pots / pans etc. exert on the natural stone surface.
If you use Slate-Lite as a work surface, you should impregnate the material several times with our Slate-Lite Special Protection.
Please note, however, that the
Slate-Lite Special Protection
is a food-safe impregnation and not a sealer.
The material does not get any scratch resistance through the application of the special protection.
We therefore recommend using cutting tools only in connection with a cutting board, as otherwise scratches would remain on the surface of the material. Please always use an appropriate saucer for hot pots / pans as well.
To make cleaning of the material easy we would recommand to use flat and smooth decors in that area.
Slate-Lite can be used in freshwater aquariums.
Clean both sides of the Slate-Lite sheet with our Special Cleaner before use so that residues of the substrate material do not pose a health hazard to your fish.
We do not stock any protective products for the real stone decor in the aquarium sector.
You can obtain a list of all usable Slate-Lite decors from our sales department sales@slate-lite.com or read our further information under the question "Can Slate-Lite be used in the pool area".
For use in wet areas such as bathrooms and showers, all our stone types except the limestones can be used!
However, if you want to use our real stone decors in a rented flat and a permanent installation is not possible after consultation with the landlord, we have two installation tips for you which can be removed if you move out:
Slate-Lite as a floor covering: First lay out a PVC material and lay Slate-Lite on it.
Slate-Lite as wall covering: Screw a base plate (e.g. wood) to the wall and glue the stone veneer to it.
Slate-Lite can be bonded to almost all substrates, including concrete, sheetrock, wood, metal, tiles, plaster, etc.
The substrate only needs to be smooth, dust-free, clean and dry.
No special preparation is necessary for "stable" substrates.
Crumbling substrates such as old, crumbling plaster or wallpaper that is already peeling off must be primed in advance to ensure a permanent bond between the adhesive and the wall.
Excessive unevenness in the substrate must either be treated with a primer or sanded down.
The basic processing of Slate-Lite is done in four simple steps:
1) Cut Slate-Lite to size (if necessary).
2) Impregnate or seal depending on where it is to be applied.
3) Apply suitable adhesive over the entire surface of the wall or the back of the stone sheet.
4) Position Slate-Lite at the desired location and press into place.
Detailed processing instructions can be found in our shop in the "Processing" section as well as in our data sheets.

No special tools are required for the processing of Slate-Lite!
You can cut our real stone decors with commercially available tools for wood or stone. We recommend an immersion circular saw with a wood or plastic saw blade with the finest possible teeth. For smaller cut-outs, an oscillating tool/multitool is particularly suitable.
Our UltraThin eco+ product range can even be cut with scissors or a cutter due to its cotton underside.
Slate-Lite is also suitable for outdoor use or the façade.
When applying, ensure that the material is bonded over the entire surface.
Sealing is not necessary, but impregnation of the material is possible.
Slate-Lite and Translucent are suitable for outdoor use, the UltraThin eco+ range is not intended for outdoor use.
Slate-Lite and Translucent are both frost and weather resistant.
When used as a house façade, rear ventilation may be necessary - other surfaces can be bonded directly.
Cleaning can be done with a high-pressure cleaner. Pay attention to the manufacturer's instructions for the high-pressure cleaner and the specified distances for using the device.
Slate-Lite is heat resistant up to a maximum temperature of 120°C, our standard adhesive up to 90°C.
You can also order Slate-Lite directly from our shop in your individual desired size - this means there is no need to cut it to size on site and you can start processing it straight away.
Please only note the extended delivery time, as your decors will then be manufactured and shipped expressly according to your specifications.
A special, fire-protected material with fire class Cs3d0 is also available to order.
Our protective products are not compatible with each other, please refrain from combining different impregnations or sealants.
Slate-Lite can be cleaned with all commercially available, non-caustic household cleaners.
In most cases, clear water and a lint-free cloth or a soft brush are sufficient.
In outdoor areas, cleaning with a high-pressure cleaner is also possible; please only observe the recommended distance of the device manufacturer when using it.

You can easily glue Slate-Lite over existing tiles, e.g. in the kitchen as a backsplash, on the floor or in the shower & bathroom.
The only important thing here is that the substrate is clean and the bonding is full-surface.
When using the product as a floor covering over old tiles, you should fill existing joints beforehand, as otherwise the joint pattern could be pressed through over time.
Our UltraThin eco+ range is not recommended for installation over existing tiles.
Note: The amount of adhesive required may be up to 40% higher than usual, as the existing joints must be levelled.
For optimal bonding of Slate-Lite, the substrate should be smooth, clean, dust-free and dry.
With "stable" no special preparation is necessary.
Crumbling substrates such as old, crumbling plaster or wallpaper that is already peeling must be primed in advance to ensure a permanent bond between the adhesive and the wall, or a new stable substrate must be created.
Severe unevenness must also be levelled with primer, filled or sanded down.
Our real stone decors are very easy and uncomplicated to install. For this purpose, the appropriate adhesive is spread on the surface to be processed or on the back of the stone sheet and the Slate-Lite sheet is then pressed on at the desired location.
We have different adhesives in our range depending on where they are to be applied. Please refer to the respective data sheets of the adhesives for further information on processing and application.
In general, Slate-Lite is best applied with polymer adhesives.
The adhesive products in our range are:
Slate-Lite Extreme: Bath & Exterior: All interior & exterior bonding of Slate-Lite.
Translucent Crystal Clear: Transparent adhesive for Translucent
UltraThin eco+ Contact Adhesive: Suitable for all UltraThin eco+ bonding applications
Spray contact adhesive for grouting.
We generally cannot recommend other tile adhesives for the time being, as permanent bonding cannot be guaranteed here.
More detailed instructions for processing Slate-Lite can be found in our shop in the "Processing" section and in the respective data sheets.

Slate-Lite Special Protection: Shower & Bath, Medium Duty Walls, Exteriors
Slate-Lite Extreme Protection: high traffic walls such as backsplash, kitchen and flooring. Also in shower & bath.
Slate-Lite 2K Coating Furniture: Furniture Construction
Our real stone decors can be bent gently due to their low thickness.
Depending on the selected range, the bendable radius varies: Slate-Lite can be bent approx. 5cm and Translucent 10cm.
UltraThineco+ can be 3D bent to some extent due to its cotton backing.
Slate-Lite has achieved the slip classes R9 (coloured slate) and R10 (mica slate).
Our standard format of 122 x 61 cm / 24 x 48 in is sent to you stacked in a flat shipping box. Depending on the chosen decor, up to 15 sheets fit in one package.
Large formats of 240 x 120 cm / 94,48 x 47,24 in and 260 x 120 cm / 102,36 x 47,24 in are shipped on a pallet or rolled. To do this, we heat the sheet over the entire surface and carefully roll it up. Up to 2 large formats fit in one box.
Please always open all packaging carefully and ensure that you do not leave any scratches on the material. Check directly on receipt of goods whether the corners of the pallet or box are damaged and have this confirmed by the carrier.
Note: Please let rolled large formats unroll slowly on their own and lie flat. Do not unroll the material too quickly as this may cause damage! Adding heat can speed up the unrolling process.
Please note that small stone splinters do not represent any damage to the material, but are rather a quality feature for the genuine natural stone surface: Despite small stone splinters in the package, the Slate-Lite sheet is usually completely undamaged and the stone surface is intact over its entire surface!
Furthermore, slight superficial scratches on the material may occur; unfortunately, this is unavoidable due to storage and transport. Such light scratches can be easily wiped away with a lint-free cloth and are also no damage to the material!
All common transport routes are suitable: sea and air freight as well as courier shipments.
As Slate-Lite is very light, it can be shipped worldwide without any problems.
For urgent shipments, it is even recommended to send it by courier.
Pallet shipping is on a daily price basis.
We do not have fixed conditions here.
Please send daily enquiries tosales@slate-lite.com
If the goods have not yet been dispatched, then we can subsequently change the delivery address and dispatch to the correct address. Please note, however, that additional costs may be incurred if the delivery address is very far away (e.g. in another country) from the old, specified delivery address.
If the goods have already been dispatched, a subsequent change of the delivery address is unfortunately not possible. You then have the option of refusing acceptance so that we can pass on the correct delivery address to the forwarding agent or courier service.
Alternatively, you can accept the goods at the address and forward them to the correct delivery address yourself.
In all cases, please contact our internal sales department so that you can be helped quickly: sales@slate-lite.com
Sample shipments within the EU are free of charge.
All other freight charges are based on the weight and quantity of the material. You will see the shipping costs to your destination country calculated in the shopping cart before completing the order. This applies to pallet and parcel shipping.
If you would like us to send you a quotation in advance, please send us an enquiry via the online shop and you will receive the relevant quotation by e-mail as soon as possible. Alternatively, you can also send us your request to sales@slate-lite.com.
We always recommend shipping the goods on pallets if you have ordered a very large quantity, as transport on pallets is safer for larger quantities.
In addition, we generally recommend shipping large formats flat on pallets during the cold winter months (October - Easter), as the cold temperatures increase the risk of breakage if the material is shipped rolled.
The following material can only be shipped flat on a pallet:
1. material sealed or impregnated by us in advance
2. art decors in large format (240 x 120 cm / 94,48 x 47,24 in)
